Certification and Training
IBC TRAINING
1 Certificate In Biblical Counseling. Entry-level course comprising of a balance of Biblical and Counseling courses. Course weighting: 120 Credits (Therapon University accredited 40 credit hours).
2 Diploma In Biblical Counseling. Intermediate level course comprising of a balance of Biblical and Counseling courses. Course weighting: 120 Credits (Therapon University accredited 40 credit hours).
3 Licentiate In Biblical Counseling. Higher level course comprising of a balance of Biblical and Counseling courses. Course weighting: 120 Credits (Therapon University accredited 40 credit hours).
4 THERAPON UNIVERSITY - Bachelor-, Masters- And Doctoral Degree In Biblical Counseling or Restorative Justice (Chaplaincy). Graduate level study comprising of core electives from Pastoral, Biblical and Counseling courses as well as a research paper.
LEVELS OF CERTIFICATION
1. Auxiliary Members
o A person not seeking formal certification as Certified Biblical counselor/Licensed Biblical Counselor, but support IBC values, may apply for registration as Auxiliary Member;
o Auxiliary Members must complete the following courses within the first year of registration:
o Introduction To Biblical Counseling
o Basic Counseling Methods;
o Credits for all completed courses will be transferable towards any IBC studies pusued, in order to become a Certified/Licensed Member.
o A membership fee of R100.00 p/a is payable before March each year.
2. Student Members
o Any person enrolled in IBC Diploma Training Program, or any other approved counseling/ministerial training, may apply for registration as Student Member;
o R100.00 Membership fee p/a payable before March each year; or
o R50.00 for all students enrolled in the IBC Diploma Program.
3. Certified Biblical Counselor
o Any person that has completed the IBC Certification Program(Diploma), or accepted equivalent, may apply for registration as Certified Biblical Counselor;
o Membership fee applicable:
o R200.00 p/a payable before March each year; or
o R100.00 p/a while studying toward Licensed Biblical Counselor through the IBC/Therapon University Partnership.
o Certified Biblical Counselors are required to complete 14 hours of continued education by means of IBC seminar/course attendance or completion of approved IBC correspondence course. Studies toward next level of certification will grant credit towards continued education.
4. Licensed Biblical Counselor
o Any person that has completed an approved Bachelor degree or accepted equivalent, may apply for registration as Licensed Biblical Counselor;
o Membership fee of R250.00 p/a payable before March each year.
o Lisenced Biblical Counselors are required to complete 14 hours of continued education by means of IBC seminar/course attendance or completion of approved IBC correspondence course.
5. Licensed Biblical Counselor (Supervisor)
o Any person that has completed an approved Master/Doctor degree or accepted equivalent, may apply for registration as Licensed Biblical Counselor (Supervisor);
o Membership fee of R300.00 p/a payable before March each year.
o Licensed Biblical Counselors (Supervisor) are required to complete 14 hours of continued education by means of IBC seminar/course attendance or completion of approved IBC correspondence course. At least 7 hours must be supervisory of nature.
All registered members of IBC shall subscribe to the IBC Statement of Faith and
Code of Ethics
